Purpose of the job for the catering supervisor


To assist the Catering Manager in the running of the catering operation within the allocated budget. To assist in ensuring that all of the Centre policies and procedures are adhered to within the legal restraints, and overall to meet customer satisfaction. To provide cover in the absence of the Catering Manager


About the role of catering supervisor 


  • Based in a leisure centre in Strourbridge

  • Temporary work / supply work (as and when needed) potential short term contracts on offer

  • Salary: £9.74 per hour plus holiday entitlements (£10.91 per hour in total)

  • Preparing food to required specifications and customer requirements

  • Assist in placing orders with the relevant suppliers for stocks of food, cleaning materials, equipment and stationery

  • Assist in ensuring cash handling procedures are adhered to and the relevant paperwork is completed

  • Ensuring quality and quantity of stock

  • Ensuring correct storage of stock

  • Ensuring correct temperatures meet the required legislation and maintain relevant records alongside the Catering Manager

  • Reporting any repairs that are needed

  • Liasing with colleagues, Line Manager, suppliers and customers

  • Completing all required paperwork

  • Assist in staff training, welfare and motivation

  • To work under pressure

  • To assist in marketing and promote the catering at the centre

  • To assist in ensuring that all staff within the unit fully understand and comply to all required standards, policies, and if necessary provide further clarification on matters such as: Personal hygiene, kitchen hygiene in the preparation and service of food, cleanliness of equipment and premises, health & safety pilocy and food policy

  • Responsibility for adhering to legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures including but not exclusively health & safety, data protection and internet/email use

  • Any other relevant duties as maybe required for the efficient running of the unit or for the requirements of special catering events.

  • To provide cover for the Catering manager


Requirements to apply for the catering supervisor role

  • Must hold a valid food hygiene qualification or a 706/1 and 2 or NVQ equivalent 

  • Must have some line management experience 

  • Must have experience in a similar role
